LAKERS: Jackson shuffles deck, plays all the right cards in 101-89 victory

LOS ANGELES - The results came back negative in more ways than one.

Kobe Bryant did not play in the Lakers' 101-89 victory Monday night against the San Antonio Spurs, sitting out for the second consecutive game because of a sprained left ankle. He underwent an MRI exam earlier in the day, which revealed nothing more serious than a sprain.

As if that's not serious enough, Andrew Bynum also did not play against the Spurs, sitting out because of a bruised and swollen right hip suffered after a hard fall to the court during the Lakers' victory Saturday over the Trail Blazers in Portland.

It's uncertain when either player might be sound enough to play again, however.

Lakers coach Phil Jackson declined to venture a guess during his pregame session with reporters. He indicated it would be up to Bryant, in particular, if he could play Wednesday against the Utah Jazz, the Lakers' final game before the All-Star break   Read Full Article...
