Landon Donovan heading to Everton on loan

CARSON - Los Angeles Galaxy forward Landon Donovan has received the work permit he needs to play in England for the Premier League club Everton.

Donovan met conditions for the permit because he has played 120 times for the United States men's national team, the Everton Football Club reported on its Web site.

The permit was granted at a hearing Tuesday, allowing Donovan to begin his two-month loan on Jan. 2, according to Everton manager David Moyes.

Donovan will remain with Everton until mid-March, returning to the Galaxy in time for its March 27 season opener against the New England Revolution at The Home Depot Center, Moyes said at a news conference in Liverpool, England Friday.

Donovan was named as Major League Soccer's most valuable player for the 2009 season, with 12 goals and six assists, helping lead the Galaxy to the MLS Cup Final, which it lost to Real Salt Lake on penalty kicks after regulation play and overtime ended in a 1-1 tie   Read Full Article...
