It was a bit of a head-scratching day as the Galaxy met for the final time in 2009, as puzzling as Landon Donovan missing a penalty kick.
The target subject, though, might have been a little more difficult.
Will Donovan be back with the team to make another run at the MLS Cup? Or will he finally realize his dream and make a home with the right situation in Europe?
"We expect him to be back here," Coach Bruce Arena said Tuesday.
"There's nothing to talk about regarding that. Landon will be back with the L.A. Galaxy. He has a contract. We expect him back here with the Galaxy."
Donovan also might have an opportunity in Mexico, although he said he has not yet been contacted. But at 27, the sand in the hourglass is beginning to run short.
"We'll know soon," Donovan said when asked if he expects to be back.
"From Bruce's standpoint, he has to plan on me being back, but we'll know soon. I haven't had a ton of time to think about it yet, but we'll figure it out shortly
