Catholics donate $43,763 for Haiti
The Catholic communities of Butte County and St. Dominic Parish in Orland contributed a total of $43,763 to the earthquake relief fund for Haiti.
The bishop of Sacramento, Jaime Soto, requested Catholics to conduct a collection the weekend of January 23-24.
Missionary returns, to speak Sunday
CHICO - A local missionary will speak about his experience in the Mississippi Jackson Mission at the Sunday worship service at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2430 Mariposa Ave.
At 1 p.m., Nathan Keith Madsen, 21, will speak about his two-year mission. The community is invited to attend this service, which is under the direction of Bishop Douglas Guadagnin.
Madsen is a graduate of Pleasant Valley High School and future plans include attending Brigham Young University, Idaho.
