Anthony McKendall longs for the days when the Inland Empire had a solid housing market.
The owner of A. McKendall Construction in Hemet used to make $350,000 to $450,000 a year remodeling houses.
"We did everything," McKendall said. "We did small jobs, we did additions and we remodeled entire houses. I consider myself a small contractor, but we did all kinds of jobs."
But McKendall's business has slipped along with the local housing market: he estimates that he will gross about $100,000 this year, and he hasn't worked on a major project in about five months.
"We've been doing mostly small stuff," he said.
Since founding the company in 1998, McKendall acquired 500 to 700 clients.
After business began to slip last fall. McKendall signed on with a Web site to which he pays $50 to $75 for client leads regardless of whether the information results in any work
