WINTER OLYMPICS: Arcadia's Nagasu ready for some fun and Games

ARCADIA - The perfect storm could be brewing.

When Mirai Nagasu takes to the Olympic arena ice at the Vancouver Games in two weeks, the Arcadia figure skater will not be the favorite. The 16-year-old is expected to finish well behind 2009 world champion Kim Yu-Na of South Korea, 2008 world champion Mao Asada of Japan and Miki Ando, also of Japan. They have won seven of the past nine world championship medals.

She is not even expected to finish ahead of U.S. champion Rachael Flatt of Colorado Springs, Colo.

So, it's the perfect position.

"I don't really know much about anything and I'm just going out there with a blank mind," Nagasu said. "I think I'm at the best advantage. For me, that's the best advantage. If I think about it too much, I'll just let my nerves get the best of me. So not knowing anything, I'll just rush in."
