Glendora dominates at Sierra League finals

Glendora High School didn't win the Sierra League championship this season.

But the Tartans made up for it on Saturday.

Haydn Scharbrough, Glendora's best shot at a state qualifier, led a parade of six Tartans to win individual championships during the Sierra League finals at Damien High.

Scharbrough won at 140 pounds and was joined by Jared Morton at 130, Eric van der Hoorn at 135, Kris Kinsey at 145, Jake Hoxsey at 160 and Tyler ten Broek at 189.

The Tartans also qualified nine competitors to the CIF-Southern Section Eastern Division championships, scheduled for Feb. 19-20 at Citrus Hill High School in Perris.

Area schools Diamond Bar and Damien also had solid efforts.

Diamond Bar had three champions and qualified eight to divisionals, with Damien getting one champion and four qualifiers.

The individual champions from Diamond Bar were Nathan Pike (103), James Grigorian (215) and Bryan Ryu (heavyweight).
