AZUSA - Instead of English and math, students at Dalton Elementary School on Friday learned a little about colors - specifically, red, white and blue.
The school invited members of the military to speak to students during a a special early Veteran's Day celebration.
"It is good for a lot of the kids to see this and to be patriotic," Marine Lance Corporal Patrick Imrie. "It instills it in them being able to see their father, brother, sisters are doing this."
Imrie was attended the event for his 10-year-old brother Anthony, a student at Dalton. This is one of the last times the pair would be together before Imrie leaves for Japan Sunday and eventually goes to Afghanistan.
Students cheered on the veterans and enlisted men, waving flags as each was introduced. Two students read a few poems to honor the guests.
