Thousands turned out for the free H1N1 flu clinics sponsored by the Los Angeles County Department of Health on Oct. 24 and 26 in Industry.
Many residents from Hacienda Heights, Walnut, Rowland Heights and Diamond Bar showed up for the vaccinations.
"We've given more than 50,000 H1N1 vaccinations since we began our clinics, including 2,000 at the Concourse Medical Center in Industry on Oct. 24," reported Dr. Jonathan Fielding, the county's health officer, during a press conference at the Expo Center in Industry.
"We're giving both the nasal spray and injections. So many have shown up today that we've already ordered another shipment," Fielding explained as families wrapped around the Pavilion building, where 3,000 vaccinations were eventually given.
The county's top health official noted that Los Angeles County has received 300,000 doses from the federal government, with 271,000 being sent to the 3,000 private healthcare providers who have ordered the H1N1 vaccine
