INDIANAPOLIS - Pitcher Randy Wolf and the Milwaukee Brewers have reached a preliminary agreement on a three-year contract worth $27 million to $30 million, a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press.
The deal, which includes a $10 million option for 2013, is subject to completion of final details, the person said Wednesday, speaking on condition of anonymity because no announcement had been made.
The 34-year-old left-hander was 11-7 with a 3.23 ERA this year in his lone season with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He had a $5 million base salary and earned $3 million in performance bonuses based on innings.
Wolf also was a free agent last offseason. He agreed to the deal with the Dodgers on Feb. 6, just a few weeks after Houston offered a $27 million, three-year contract and then withdrew the proposal a week later, citing the poor economy
