Rarely, if ever, do we get into a school's internal affairs in regard to coaching changes. However, the so-called "resignation" of Greg Setlich at Chino High School as head football coach was a stunner and pushed us into reflective thinking.
It is not a good situation at Chino these days. The proud Cowboy nation is going through an 18-game losing streak, and that is never a good thing. Even Setlich, a Chino graduate, understands it's a city that does not tolerate losing very well.
But there are circumstances at the school that lurk just below the surface. An outsider looking in has very little idea of what is bubbling beneath, just out of public view. However, it is a situation that has been building for quite some time.
Setlich was brought in two years ago from across town at Don Lugo to strengthen the program. There were issues at the time and we wonder if two years was long enough to turn it all around
