Campus Life 5.0 - A look at the local college scene

The University of Redlands swimming teams don't have much competition in the SCIAC. The exception is Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, which provided the opposition in the final dual meet of the regular season Saturday at the Thompson Aquatic Complex.

Redlands defeated CMS 124-119 and the women fell short 139-104. Redlands placed multiple swimmers in each event but won just four of the 13.

"There were some close ones that we were hoping to pull out that just didn't go our way," coach Leslie Whittemore said.

Freshman Allie Bollella was victorious in the 500 free (5:22.08) and the 50 free (24.720) and sophomore McKenzie Nakamura won the 200 individual medley (2:15.25). The other victory came from freshman Lauren Zehner in the 200 fly (2:11.12).

CMS standout Emma Jones was a double winner in the 100 and 200 free but in both those events Redlands boasted the second-, third- and fourth-place finishers. Zehner was second to Jones in the 200 and freshman Jessica Medvec was second in the 100   Read Full Article...
