After what some fans have described as a quiet offseason, the Dodgers made some noise Tuesday.
In an effort to avoid dealing with arbitration, the Dodgers reached agreements with outfielder Andre Ethier and closer Jonathan Broxton on two-year contracts, and first baseman James Loney, catcher Russell Martin and relievers George Sherrill and Hong-Chih Kuo agreed to one-year contracts
All six players were eligible for salary arbitration.
Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reported Ethier's contract guarantees him $15.25 million for two years, with the potential for more money through incentives.
Ethier, who made $3.1 million in 2009, hit .272 with a career-high 31 homers and 106 RBIs. The rightfielder also came up with six winning hits, including four walk-off home runs, took home a Silver Slugger Award and finished sixth in the National League MVP voting.
Sports Illustrated reported Broxton's deal to be worth $11 million.
