Friends remember Haiti quake victim - Pomona High grad who died in Haiti disaster worked for U.N.

POMONA - Ericka Chambers Norman was a loyal and caring woman who stood out for her warm, welcoming smile.

On Saturday morning, a group of her high school friends and classmates will gather at Pomona High School to remember the deeply spiritual woman who touched many with her kindness and optimism.

She was an "incredibly special angel," said longtime friend Janeene Vickers-McKinney.

Norman, 41, was part of the U.N. Stabilization Mission in Haiti. She was in the U.N. offices in Port-au-Prince when the Jan. 12 earthquake struck and the building collapsed, friends said.

Her body was recovered Jan. 17.

Services will take place Saturday morning in Seattle, where her parents live, said Pomona High alumna Shante Hall- Flournoy.

But friends and alumni also wanted to remember Norman locally, so a memorial service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at Pomona High, 475 Bangor St   Read Full Article...
