POMONA - A fugitive suspected in the killing of an El Monte man was captured early Tuesday after a police chase.
Andrew Valenzuela, 19, a suspected gang member, is one of five people connected to a crime spree between September and November that included the killings of three people, a kidnapping and an assault, authorities said.
A Pomona police car pulled up behind a vehicle that Valenzuela was traveling in at 1:42a.m. in the Angela-Chanslor area of south Pomona. The vehicle sped away, but eventually stopped at Sixth Street and Oak Avenue.
"(Valenzuela) gets out and tries to run, but officers get him into custody. He has a gun in his pocket," police Sgt. Steve Congalton said.
The vehicle's driver, identified as Jennifer Ruiz, was arrested and held on suspicion of felony evading as well as numerous other charges, Congalton said.
