Watching spors with my grandpa

Sports have played a major role in my life, from playing them growing up to helping me decide the career I wanted to pursue when I became an adult.

But possibly the biggest role, or at least one of the most interesting in my opinion, was in helping connect with my grandfather.

My grandpa, John Trudgeon, was not a professional ball player of any kind. In fact, he spent the majority of his life as a banker, after serving as a Master Sgt. in the Army during WWII.

But from as early as I can remember, grandpa loved watching sports.

The image of he and grandma's old box-style television, set up in the corner of their old house with the giant knobs that turned it on and off and changed the channels, is burned into my brain from all the birthdays and holidays we spent there growing up.

Almost all of us played some kind of sport, so when we weren't watching them on T.V., we were talking about them - who had done what recently, who was trying out for what, etc   Read Full Article...
