MENTONE - The Redlands East Valley girls' basketball team made a statement to first-place Rialto and the rest of the Citrus Belt League with a commanding 70-45 win over crosstown rivals Redlands High School Wednesday evening.
"It's a really big deal because it puts us one step closer to winning a CBL championship," said REV senior captain Dreanna Underwood.
After suffering through a five-game losing streak to their crosstown rivals heading into this year, REV (16-7, 9-2 CBL) was able to win both contests this season.
"It was really big for the seniors," said REV Head Coach Robert Tompkins. "This is the first season they have ever beaten RHS."
From the tip-off, the Terriers appeared to be hungry to avenge their previous loss, jumping out to an early 4-0 lead with points coming from senior captain Brittney Neeley and sophomore Gerry Abbott
