REDLANDS - It could not have started better for the Redlands High School girls' soccer team.
Badly in need of a big victory following a week of subpar play, the Terriers got just what they wanted at the start of Wednesday's showdown with Yucaipa High School.
Taking a pass from senior midfielder Courtney Mera, sophomore midfielder Megan Borman tucked a shot into the back of the net from 20 yards out and just like that RHS held a 1-0 lead four minutes into the game.
Unfortunately for the Terriers, the remaining 76 minutes did not go according to plan.
Taking advantage of a couple miscues on the part of RHS (7-5-6, 6-2-2 Citrus Belt League), Yucaipa rallied for four unanswered goals on their way to a shocking 4-1 victory at Dodge Stadium.
"I can't remember the last time a game against Yucaipa was decided by more than one goal," said RHS Head Coach Jennifer Classen
