REDLANDS - A man claiming to be armed with a gun robbed Chase Bank in downtown Redlands Friday.
At 9:56 a.m., the man walked into the bank on the northwest corner of Redlands Boulevard and Orange Street. The man walked up to a bank teller's window, told the teller he had a gun and demanded cash. The teller complied and the man escaped, said Redlands city spokesman Carl Baker.
"The teller never saw the gun," Baker said. "The man escaped on foot headed west behind the Sizzler (restaurant at 110 West Redlands Blvd.)."
Baker said police will not disclose the stolen amount. No one was injured during the robbery.
Baker said the man is about 6 feet tall, weighing about 220 pounds with short brown hair. He wore a red long-sleeved T-shirt and blue jeans. The man also had a red and green tattoo on the right side of his neck. Baker could not specify what the tattoo depicted.
