What's new at the A.K. Smiley Public Library, November 16

This has been a tumultuous year with the economy, wars, natural disasters and the national election. And regardless of whether or not we are ready for it, the holiday season will soon be upon us.

With all this uncertainty and unrest, it is difficult to feel hopeful, yet it is possible.

Here are my picks from the Young Readers' Room that reveal how caring about life requires our exerted effort. The difficulty of action or taking responsibility for what is, no matter what the circumstance, ultimately allows us to experience a life better than what we could ever dream of for ourselves.

Growing up reading the "Little House on the Prairie" series, I thought the chores of pioneer settlers were much more interesting than my regular boring chore to dust. "Buffalo Music," by Tracey E.
