RIVERSIDE - Real-life Western star Annie Oakley leaps to rip-roaring life onstage in "Annie Get Your Gun," in the latest production at Performance Riverside.
With lyrics and music by Irving Berlin and a book by Herbert Fields and Dorothy Fields, "Annie Get Your Gun" is based on the real-life story of Wild West legend Annie Oakley and Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. The production is directed and choreographed by John Vaughan and musically directed by Scott T. Smith.
Performances are at Landis Performing Arts Center, on the campus of Riverside Community College, continuing through Sunday, Nov. 16.
The 1946 Broadway production of "Annie Get Your Gun" was a runaway hit with the legendary Ethel Merman, and was successfully revived on Broadway in 1966 and 1999. It also spawned a 1950 film version and television versions in 1957 and 1966.
The Landis Performing Arts Center is on the Riverside Community College campus at 4800 Magnolia Ave.
