Donald Mark "Bear" Long, a longtime resident of Highland, died Nov. 5 in Highland. He was 48.
He was born Sept. 1, 1960, in Chowchilla, attended Redlands Junior Academy and graduated from Loma Linda Academy.
He had worked in loss prevention management at Home Base and had also worked at Home Depot and Morley Water Improvement Systems.
He was a member of the Celebration Center Seventh-day Adventist Church.
He was also a member of AA and NA and a "friend of Bill W."
His father, Donald E. Long, was the San Bernardino Marshal's Division commander at the time of his death in 1971. His mother, Jean Long Hardesty, was a stay-at-home mother of six children and a member of the Redlands Seventh-day Adventist Church. She now lives in Highland.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Nema "Sam" Long of Highland; his children Jackie Long of Killeen, Texas, and D.J
