Perhaps the biggest problem for the Long Beach State women's basketball team has been maintaining momentum in a given game. A lengthy scoring drought is almost inevitable.
Often times it comes in the second half, but it came in the first in Thursday's nine-point loss at Cal State Fullerton.
But the 49ers on Saturday played well throughout their Big West Conference game at Cal State Northridge. The result was an 86-67 victory over the Matadors before 187 at the Matadome.
"We've been talking about it a lot," said 49ers senior guard Lauren Sims, who led the way with 19 points; she made five of nine from 3-point range. "We've been breaking the game down into each possession and then each four minutes and then after that each half.
"And the big thing for us is putting two halves together and I think we finally did that and there was no scoring drought."
