USC basketball coach Kevin O'Neill confirmed Sunday that he fired a student manager who received a technical foul in the Trojans' loss at Oregon over the weekend.
Stan Holt, a third-year manager who worked for former Coach Tim Floyd, was called for a technical foul for comments made to an official with USC trailing 49-47 with 4:35 remaining. The Ducks won the game 67-57.
"He definitely is no longer with us," O'Neill said. "I know one thing. We had momentum with a two-point game and it turned into a four-point play. I've never heard of this happening before."
O'Neill said he did not hear what Holt said to the officials. "It was out of the blue to me," O'Neill said. "I had no idea who they called it on."
O'Neill said he would not hire a replacement manager. "We won't need one," he said.
