It has been quite an exciting journey for the Webelos II Cub Scouts of Long Beach Pack 198 and the dads, too.
They joined scouting as a group of eight Tiger Cubs in second grade. Four years passed as they earned their achievement badges and moved up through the ranks of Bobcat, Wolves, Bears and Webelos.
By the time they were working through Webelos II, with their eyes on crossing over to Boy Scouts, the group was only four strong.
Through those four years, Pack 198 was faced with many challenges, like multiple leadership changes and lagging enrollment.
At one point the Pack 198 charter was in question due to lack of interest by the up-
and-coming boys. I am glad to say that a terrific bunch of dads stepped up to the plate and made sure that Pack 198 didn't end with the graduation of our boys.
I would highly recommend scouting as a way to build the relationship between a father and son
