Players honor Melody Ross at game; security increased

Above, with the "W" on their helmets turned upside down to make an "M" the Wilson High School football team honored Melody Ross, a classmate lost to gunfire after last week's game. On this Friday night before facing Jordan High School they observed a moment of silence. At right, Wilson High School cheerleader Megan Kelly displays an M.R. to honor Ross. Below, Yiorgos Voulgaris, a Wilson High School parent of two football players, goes through security before entering Jordan for the game. Regarding the security measures on this night, Voulgaris said, "It's great and necessary, we feel safe." According to security, fewer than 15 people were turned away but at the time of that statement at least 300 were still in line to enter and the game was well into the second quarter.
