BURLISON: Basketball 'feast' coming to Anaheim

One of the best pre-Christmas bargains for those who take college basketball seriously can be found in Anaheim next week.

The third edition of the ESPN-fronted 76 Classic gets underway at the Anaheim Convention Center on Thanksgiving Day (and I mean nearly ALL day), continues the next day and then takes Saturday off before wrapping up with four more games on Nov. 29.

It's the best field the event has had, with No. 8 (in this week's Associated Press Top 25) West Virginia facing Long Beach State at 11 a.m., followed by No. 22 Clemson and Texas A and M, and then (in the second session) No. 11 Butler playing at 5:30p.m. and UCLA taking on vastly underrated Portland at 7:30.

It would surprise me in the least if each of the eight teams - including the 49ers and Portland (which many West Coast Conference coaches believe should be favored over Gonzaga to win the WCC) - is part of the NCAA Tournament field of 64 that is unveiled on CBS on March 14   Read Full Article...
