Rookie Dungey wins in AMA Supercross -

ANAHEIM - For a rookie, Rockstar Suzuki's Ryan Dungey sure seems to be playing the part of a circuit veteran.

Dungey won his second AMA Supercross main event in three weeks, besting reigning champion James Stewart to win Round 3 of the Monster Energy FIM World Championship Series at Angel Stadium on Saturday night.

"It was a close race -- and clean," said Dungey, who won Round 1 in Anaheim. "James rode a great race. To hold him off ... man, 20 laps is a long time."

Dungey passed Stewart in the rhythm section on lap 12 and took the lead from San Manuel Yamaha's Joshua Hill on lap 13.

"It was James and Josh, Josh and James the whole way," Dungey said. "I was just in the right places at the right times."

Hill, who recently moved to Murrieta, held off some of the best riders in the world for 10 laps, battling both Dungey and Stewart for as long as he could.
