Thrilling finish at Perris feature - OVAL NATIONALS: Jones holds off a charging Stanbrough in a competitive 25-lap feature.

PERRIS - Levi Jones held off a last-lap charge by Jon Stanbrough to claim a photo-finish victory in Friday night's preliminary feature at the 14th Annual Budweiser Oval Nationals sprint car race at Perris Auto Speedway.

The top four cars were locked in a fierce duel throughout the 25-lap feature, with Jones and Stanbrough trading passes throughout the race. Stanbrough and Jones were even coming off of Turn 4 on the final lap, but Jones was able to outrun Stanbrough to the line to claim a 0.025-second victory. Mike Spencer passed Damion Gardner on the final lap to claim third, with Riverside's Darren Hagen finishing fifth.

The heat races were rough on fast cars. The fastest qualifiers in each of the five heat races finished outside of the top four and failed to qualify directly into the A-main.
