Stricker making a splash - NORTHERN TRUST OPEN: He gains a share of the lead, while Fowler misses the projected cut line.

PACIFIC PALISADES - After enduring a wet and not so wonderful partial second round, not even the guys highest up the leaderboard at the Northern Trust Open claimed to have had a great time playing golf Friday at Riviera Country Club.

"I'm very happy to be done with the round, to tell you the truth," said Steve Stricker after carding a seven-birdie second-round 65 that had him tied with Dustin Johnson for the lead at 10 under par when play was halted at 5:02 p.m. due to darkness.

Johnson, who aced No. 6 and notched his first bogey on 15, was among the 41 players left on the course. Conditions permitting, he'll pick up where he left off, on the 17th tee box, at 7:30 this morning.

For his part, former Murrieta resident Rickie Fowler finished his first two rounds 4 over, 3 shots off the anticipated cut line.
