LA QUINTA - "Terrible," Rickie Fowler said.
The 21-year-old rookie standout was none too pleased with his output in the third round of the Bob Hope Classic on Saturday at the Nicklaus Private course at PGA West.
The former Murrieta Valley High star shot his worst round of the tournament, carding a 3-over 75 to fall to 3 over for the tournament. The score puts him in jeopardy of missing his second consecutive cut to start his rookie season.
Chalk it up to a few slightly misread, just-missed putts, but mostly to a swing that isn't behaving properly.
"My swing didn't feel very good," said Fowler, who finished with two birdies and five bogeys, including three in his last six holes. "It just doesn't feel right. It felt really good before I went to Hawaii (for the Sony Open), and then I guess I lost it on the plane flight over there.
"So I'm going to work on a few things, work on fundamentals and get it straightened out
