Record round lifts Watson - HOPE CLASSIC: He fires a course-best 62 at SilverRock Resort for a 2-shot advantage.

LA QUINTA - The sky cleared enough to allow for a whole round of golf to go on Friday at the Bob Hope Classic, where strong storms Thursday washed out a day of play for just the third time in the tournament's 51-year history.

With the amateurs sent home for a second straight day, the pros were paired in twosomes, given tee times starting at 11 a.m. and told to get back to work.

No one took care of business better than long-driving Bubba Watson, who wasn't slowed by the soggy conditions, depositing nine birdies and an eagle to set a course record with a 10-under 62 at SilverRock Resort.

"I didn't really think about 59," said Watson, whose score put him at 16 under for the tournament. "I thought about not choking."

The 31-year-old Floridian cruised through the mostly dry round with barely a hiccup, building a 2-shot advantage over Alex Prugh, who maintained his proximity to the lead by sloshing through for a bogey-free 66   Read Full Article...
