LOS ANGELES - Just because the USC men's basketball team has no postseason possibility does not mean the Trojans have nothing to play for.

A Pac-10 regular-season championship is still within reach after the Trojans smashed visiting Washington, 87-61, inside Galen Center on Saturday. The win moved USC -- picked ninth in the Pac-10 preseason poll -- into a five-way tie for second place in the conference.

That's still not enough for Coach Kevin O'Neill, whose team would be leading the conference had it not given up a double-digit lead Thursday to Washington State.

The Trojans (12-7, 4-3) put together one of their most complete games of the season by pairing its typically stingy defense with a proficient offensive showing. USC shot 58 percent from the field, had five players finish in double figures and scored a season-high 87 points.
