USC wins 8th straight to lead Pac-10 -

LOS ANGELES - An affair that could have doubled as a football game offered a final score befitting of the gridiron.

47-37. USC over Arizona State.

That's hoops, not helmets and pads.

A game between the top two defensive teams in the Pac-10 lived up to expectations Saturday at Galen Center, where the Trojans won their eighth consecutive game by limiting their opponent to fewer than 57 points for the eighth straight time.

It marked another solid win for a Trojans team that was expected to be one of the worst teams in the conference but has vaulted atop the standings with a sweep of the Arizona schools..

"Everyone can say it's an ugly win," said first-year Trojans coach Kevin O'Neill. "To me it's pretty darn nice."

USC held Arizona State to 24 percent shooting (11 of 45) by using a tenacious man-to-man defense. Had it not been for three Arizona State three-pointers in the final minute and a half, the Trojans might have kept the Sun Devils in the 20s   Read Full Article...
