UCR women battle back - UC Riverside 64 UC Irvine 53 They rally to win their fourth in a row.

RIVERSIDE - The UC Riverside women's basketball team's win over UC Irvine on Saturday wasn't very artistic, but the 64-53 decision extended the Highlanders' winning streak to four and gives them a chance to get a piece of first place next week.

Rhaya Neabors scored 21 points to lead UCR, and her twin sister, Rheya, added 16 points and had seven assists. Junior Alyssa Morris had 17 points and eight rebounds.

UCR (7-12, 4-2 Big West) won despite committing 20 turnovers, going only 15 of 26 from the foul line and trailing by seven points with 6:39 remaining.

"We had about four good minutes during the game, but that changed the score by 13 points," UCR coach John Margaritis said. "We didn't give up and kept playing hard until we found a way to win."

The Neabors sisters played key roles during the 3:50 streak of 13 unanswered points. Rheya opened with a layup, and Rhaya followed with a three-point shot to cut the lead to 51-49 with 5:47 remaining   Read Full Article...
