UCR women squeak by Titans -

RIVERSIDE - Over the course of a season, there will be a few games that are won in which the team didn't necessarily play well enough to win, according to Highlanders coach Jon Margaritis.

"Somebody gets their shot to go down or whatever ... you catch a break, and I think tonight was our break," he said Saturday after the Highlanders squeaked out a 53-51 victory over Cal State Fullerton in a Big West Conference game at the Student Recreation Center.

"Hopefully we can take advantage of this rather than looking for another break next game," he said.

The Highlanders (10-13, 7-3) have won three straight and seven of their past eight games.

Alyssa Morris came up with the big play for the Highlanders with the game tied at 51-51 and 13 seconds remaining. She forced a turnover under the Titans' basket and went the length of the court before connecting on a short jump shot, giving the Highlanders a two-point lead with 2.1 seconds left   Read Full Article...
