UCR women win at Northridge -

UC Riverside used two big runs in the second half to pull away from host Cal State Northridge, 75-53, Thursday in a Big West Conference women's basketball game.

Seniors Amber Cox and Marissa Rivera each scored 16 points to lead the Highlanders.

UCR (9-13, 6-3 in Big West) led by one point in the early moments of the second half, but the Highlanders went on a 9-0 run over a 2 ½ -minute stretch to take a 40-30 lead. Rivera scored five straight points during that stretch.

The Highlanders sealed the victory with a 24-2 run later in the half. Cox scored 13 of her points during that final stretch, and Alyssa Morris contributed six more.

Morris scored 12 points and had a perfect shooting night, making all four shots from the field, including two three-pointers, and both of her free-throw attempts.
