Highlanders on the big stage - NATIONAL TV: UC Riverside plays host to Pacific on a game to be shown on ESPN2.

RIVERSIDE - UC Riverside will host its first nationally televised game today when Pacific visits the Student Recreation Center for a men's basketball game.

ESPN2 will broadcast the 5 p.m. Big West game and the Highlanders hope the exposure coincides with a turnaround in what is turning into a dismal conference season. UCR (8-12, 2-6 Big West) is coming off its third consecutive home loss, a 60-50 drubbing by UC Davis on Thursday. The theme of the season so far has been the team's ineffectiveness at finding any offense outside of leading scorer Kyle Austin. The Highlanders are last in the Big West in scoring (62.7 points) and things won't get any easier against Pacific, which has the top-rated defense (60.6) in the conference and sits atop the standings at 6-1, 13-6 overall.

"We have to stay together," Kyle Austin said of the team's current struggles.
