Legendary UCLA volleyball coach to retire -

UCLA women's volleyball coach Andy Banachowski, the winningest Division I women's volleyball coach in history, today announced that he will retire on June 30, the school announced Monday in a release.

"I am grateful to UCLA for allowing me to be the head coach of the women's volleyball team for all these years," Banachowski said in the release. "I have always realized that there would come a time for this wonderful journey called coaching to come to an end, and I have decided to retire when my contract expires at the end of this school year."

Banachowski and UCLA women's volleyball have been synonymous since the program's inception in 1965. He has directed the Bruins for all but two of those seasons, the 1968-69 and 1969-70 campaigns, which directly followed his graduation.
