FULLERTON - How does a team look so bad one night, and then 48 hours later look like a championship-caliber team?

UC Riverside players and coaches may have been asking that same question following the Highlanders' 76-59 Big West win at Cal State Fullerton on Saturday night.

"When you're 2-8, you go out there and there's nothing to lose," explained forward Kyle Austin, who finished with a career-high 35 points and spearheaded an aggressive attack that has been missing for most of the season.

"We found a little confidence," Coach Jim Wooldridge added.

Whatever the reason, UCR (9-14, 3-8 Big West) played one of its best games of the season, scoring the most points since Jan. 2, when the Highlanders opened conference play with a 69-67 overtime victory over Long Beach State.
