SETTING BLISTERING PACE - The Smiths have No. 5 MSJC's opponents on the run

SAN JACINTO - Slowing down the high-scoring Mt. San Jacinto women's basketball team isn't easy. Option No. 1 might be containing Smith. But which one?

Danielle Smith is a quick, flashy guard who likes to push the ball and has the skill to drive around or shoot over opposing defenses. Forward Tiffany Smith (no relation) is a smooth-shooting frontcourt player who can spot up and knock down jumpers or dominate the boards inside.

The two have helped the Eagles soar to a No. 5 state ranking as they head into tonight's key Foothill Conference matchup at two-time conference champion San Bernardino Valley College.

Not many teams have figured out a way to slow the Eagles' talented duo, including SBVC. In the first meeting Jan. 8, Danielle Smith scored 25 points and Tiffany Smith added 16 points and 12 rebounds on the way to a 71-57 win.
