LOS ANGELES - Kobe who?
The winning formula for a Lakers team without Kobe Bryant is hardly a secret, Coach Phil Jackson said.
Don't turn the ball over, win the battle of the boards and shoot the ball "pretty well," is how Jackson rattled off the list of needs to get a win before tipoff against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday at Staples Center.
Turned out to be easy as 1-2-3 for the Lakers, who won 101-89.
Or, as in one memorable sequence in the paint with less than two minutes left in the third quarter, as easy as 1-2-3-4-5-6, which was how many tries it took from point-blank range by the Lakers trio of Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom and Ron Artest to get an uncooperative bouncing ball through the basket as the Spurs, with Tim Duncan on the bench, could just stand and watch.
"Absolutely this is making it easier on me," Bryant said after the game. "It doesn't put any pressure on me if I'm not ready to play
