"Tropic Thunder" ruled at the national box office for the second weekend in a row.
In Inland theaters, however, fickle moviegoers moved past the R-rated comedy, turning out instead for the PG-13 "The House Bunny," making it No. 1 in the region.
The film, which grossed $15.1 million in its opening weekend, over performed in the region, making almost $3,000 more in Inland theaters than it did in theaters across the nation. The regional per-theater average was $8,558; the national figure was $5,564.
"Tropic Thunder," about actors who fight drug traffickers after getting lost while filming a movie, came in second in the region. The film, which made $16.1 million this weekend, made an average of $5,341 per theater regionally and $4,803 per theater nationally.
