Funeral for museum's former director Friday
A memorial service for Charles Hice, who served as director of the Riverside Metropolitan Museum from 1961 to 1978, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Acheson and Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary, 7944 Magnolia Ave., Riverside.
Hice died Aug. 2 from congestive heart failure. He was 89.
Hice will be buried at 2 p.m. Friday at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd.

Festive Hawaii event features hula dancers
Hawaii's annual Statehood Day holiday will be celebrated at the Riverside location of Maui Wowi Hawaiian Coffee and Smoothies on Friday and Saturday. Sales proceeds will be donated to the Hawaiian Wildlife Fund, a news release states.
Activities will include live music, prize giveaways and hula dancers, with free 7-ounce smoothies and coffees available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m
