Mary Clough was just bursting to brag about her friend Sue Meyer's cooking.
"She has brought in potluck dinners that were just out of this world," said Clough, referring to Meyer's cooking for the Temecula Valley Elks Lodge, which is apparently quite the foodie venue when Meyer is in charge.
"The guys love the chili verde. If I say I'm going to make it, I have them standing in line," said Meyer, of Temecula, the subject of this week's Home Cooking Profile. "They fight over the leftover sauce even when the pork's gone."
Clough, a friend and fan, nominated Meyer for the profile, and she said Meyer's standout dish is her rendition of Chicken Saltimbocca, a wine-infused Italian dish with sage and prosciutto.
"That's the one Mary likes the most," Meyer said, and it's the one she selected as her signature dish.
"Her food is really flavorful," said Clough, of Murrieta. The flavors are different, "yet they are not the kind of flavors that turn you off
