A 5-year-old Temecula girl was found unharmed in Kern County after she was abducted by her father, who shot her mother early Saturday morning, police said.
Kaylee Jocelyn Cardona was found around 4 p.m. at the home of a relative of her father, Jose De Jesus Cardona Alcala, in the Mojave Desert town of Rosamond, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said.
Cardona, 37, of Los Angeles County, was arrested at about 6:15 p.m. at a fast-food restaurant in Rosamond, not far from a motel where police believed he was staying, Temecula police Lt. Scot Collins said.
Riverside County deputies were en route Saturday night to Rosamond to take Cardona into custody. He faces attempted murder and kidnapping charges, Collins said.
Police say Cardona entered the home of his daughter's mother, 43-year-old Marta Ochoa, in the 43000 block of Corte Cabrera around 4 a.m
