Temecula woman who was shot when daughter was kidnapped undergoes more surgery -

The 43-year-old Temecula mother who was shot Saturday, and her daughter abducted by the child's father, underwent a second surgery Monday, authorities said.

As of Monday evening, no information about Martha Ochoa's condition was available.

Jose De Jesus Cardona Alcala, 37, of San Fernando, shot Ochoa in the torso about 4 a.m. after entering the Temecula home Ochoa and her daughter share with her sister, brother-in-law and 13-year-old niece, Riverside County sheriff's officials said.

Lt. Scot Collins said accounts of the sequence of events differ, but Cardona Alcala ultimately fled with their 5-year-old child, Kaylee Cardona, prompting authorities to issue an Amber Alert.

A .38 caliber revolver was recovered at the scene, Collins said.

Later that day, Kaylee was found safe with her father's friends in Rosamond, a desert town in Kern County. Cardona Alcala, who is married and has other children, was arrested Saturday at a restaurant there   Read Full Article...
