Valley Health System patient care areas in its Hemet and Menifee Valley hospitals and a skilled nursing facility in Hemet are undergoing a major facelift.
Carpeting up to 22 years old is being replaced and a fresh coat of paint will be added.
The almost $1.47 million upgrade, which started earlier this month at Menifee Valley Medical Center, is scheduled to begin at Hemet Valley Medical Center in October and at Hemet Valley Healthcare Center in January.
"In six weeks this floor will be completely done," said Keith Garrison, Valley Health System facilities administrator, speaking of work in progress recently on the second floor at Menifee.
Before work started, patients were moved to another floor.
Installation of sheet vinyl flooring to replace the 19-year-old carpet at Menifee began earlier this week, said Rick Di Capo, hospital administrator.
Patient areas also will get a fresh coat of beige paint with accents of mahogany
