COLTON - Members of the Colton City Crips call the sprawling Arbor Terrace Apartments "The Zoo."
The 128-unit complex is headquarters for the gang's intricate drug sale operation, authorities said, using walkie-talkie communication, intimidating residents into providing safe homes, and using children as lookouts.
"This is where they grew up, and this is where they feel it's safe for them to sell drugs," said Colton police Sgt. Eric Miller, who led a lengthy undercover surveillance of the gang's activities.
So when the San Bernardino County district attorney's office sought to make them the subject of its second civil gang injunction, standard restrictions of not congregating and not displaying hand signs weren't good enough.
Under the action announced Tuesday, Colton City Crips members can be arrested for simply being seen at Arbor Terrace or the nearby SB Liquor store
