Cheaper gas offers limited relief to Inland drivers -

Robert Wallace wasn't alone Tuesday in having a mixed response to the average price of gasoline in the Inland area going below $4.

"I wish it would go lower," Wallace, 49, of Moreno Valley, said as he pumped gas at a station near his home. "That's good it's down, but it needs to go lower."

Tuesday was the first time since May 24 the average price for a gallon of gas dipped below $4 in Riverside and San Bernardino counties, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California. The Tuesday average, $3.98, was 63 cents less than the all-time high of $4.61 posted June 22.

In the nearly two months since hitting the high, Wallace said the prices persuaded him to make changes. He has joined a carpool with two other workers at Shaw Floors, a carpet and flooring manufacturer.
